This winter, Cold Fusion are once again dedicating a couple of weeks of their calendar exclusively for single parents who love to ski.

These special holidays allow you to travel independently with your little ones and enjoy the company of other like-minded parents and children for unforgettable days on the slopes and social evenings in the chalet.

On our Single Parent weeks, our priority is making sure that both you and your child have the best possible week in the mountains.  Your days will be spent in the company of the other chalet guests on the slopes with the option of ski school if required.  Evenings will be spent enjoying gourmet food, fine wine and great company. For the little ones, an earlier high tea is served.

The Cold Fusion concierge service will be on hand to arrange ski lessons, ski hire, ski passes and child care as well as offering local knowledge to get the most out of your stay. Off the slopes, our team can organise activities including ice skating, alpine coaster rides, indoor climbing and sledging.

Our Single Parent ski holidays will coincide with UK school holidays during February half term.

Accommodation will be in our new chalet The Farmhouse in Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley.

Holidays will be sold on a per bedroom basis, which includes one adult and one child.

We can also accommodate larger families of 1 adult with 2 or 3 children if needed with options of twin, triple and quad bedrooms.

Itinerary at a Glance

Here's a brief overview of what your 7-night Singles Ski Parent Holiday might look like:

Day 1: Arrival and Afternoon Ski Les Houches

Morning:                                                                                                                                                                             

  • Fly from from your local airport to Geneva Airport in Switzerland

  • Upon arrival in Geneva meet your Mountain Drop Offs driver for a transfer to The Farmhouse in Les Houches

  • Welcome drink upon arrival and meet the Cold Fusion team

Afternoon:

  • Arrange your ski hire and pick up ski passes

  • Head to Les Houches, a charming village and ski area

  • If you arrive early you can spend the afternoon exploring the slopes, getting your ski legs back in Les Houches

  • Take in the breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif and have lunch up the mountain

  • Return in the afternoon to meet all the other Cold Fusion guests

  • Welcome drinks with champagne and canapes at 19:00 (with snacks and soft drinks for the little ones)

  • 3 course evening meal and wine at 20:00 for children with a later sitting for the grown ups

Day 2: Flegere

Morning:

  • Start your day early with a hearty breakfast.

  • Head to the Flegere ski area in Chamonix in our own private minibuses

  • Discover a wide range of south facing slopes suitable for different skiing levels.

Afternoon:

  • Enjoy the afternoon sunny, south facing slopes of Flegere and maybe try the boardercross or attempt the mini jumps with your little skiers

  • Enjoy a delicious mountainside lunch with panoramic views across the valley to Mont Blanc

  • Apres-ski in the famous Folie Douce Hotel (child-friendly venue with music, entertainment and games)

  • Relax back at the chalet in the hot tub

  • Make your own pizzas for the kids tonight with the chef

  • Enjoy a delicious 3 course evening meal with carefully selected wine for the grown ups

Day 3: Le Tour

Morning:

  • A new day, a new adventure.

  • Travel to the Le Tour ski area, located at the northernmost part of the valley in our own private minibuses

  • Experience the pristine slopes and peaceful surroundings of this ski area, perfect for intermediate skiers and snowboarders

Afternoon:

  • Savour a local lunch, perhaps a classic Savoyard dish in a mountainside restaurant

  • Make the most of your afternoon skiing and explore ski slopes all the way to the Swiss border!

  • Relax back at the chalet in the hot tub

  • In House Massage (optional)

  • Enjoy a meal out in Chamonix for the Chef's night off, booked for you by the team and with transport to and from the restaurant provided by Cold Fusion.

Day 4: Courmayeur, Italy (optional day trip)

Morning:

  • Pack your passports and prepare for an exciting ski away day to Courmayeur in Italy!

  • Cross the border through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and experience the unique Italian ski culture.

  • Ski in the Aosta Valley, surrounded by stunning scenery.

  • Stop for an Italian coffee or a Bombardino - a traditional Italian cocktail

Afternoon:

  • Enjoy a traditional Italian lunch with pizza, pasta, or other local specialties delivered with wonderful Italian hospitality

  • Explore the charming town of Courmayeur before returning to Chamonix, maybe even a gelato stop for the children - or the adults!

  • Return to the chalet to another gourmet meal prepared by our talented chef

  • Movie night with popcorn

Day 5: Grands Montets

Morning:

  • Back in Chamonix, head to the famous Grands Montets ski area - the biggest ski area in the Chamonix Valley

  • Experience the thrilling high-altitude skiing this area offers with long runs and jaw-dropping views across the glacier

Afternoon:

  • Ski through the forest to the Cremerie restaurant, a gorgeous eatery hidden away offering fodues, raclettes and tartiflettes - perfect to warm you up before an afternoon ski. The chalet team will book the table for you before hand so you wont have to queue

  • Continue skiing and make the most of this world-renowned ski area.

  • Afternoon tea back at the chalet with a soak in the hot tub

  • Outdoor ice skating in Les Houches

  • Chefs Night Off - relax in the chat with a pizza ordered and collected for you by our team or enjoy another night out in the lively town of Chamonix in a restaurant booked by Cold Fusion with return transport provided

 

Day 6: Megeve, Les Contamines, or St Gervais (optional day trip)

  • Treat yourself to a ski away day to explore the extensive surrounding ski areas of the Evasion ski area in private minibuses - a short drive from the chalet.

  • Megeve: A charming and upscale resort.

  • Les Contamines: Scenic and family-friendly with some long cruisy pistes

  • St Gervais: A traditional Alpine village with varied skiing and the famous Folie Douce Apres-ski Bar! (kid friendly) - dancing on tables in your ski boots with your little ones in tow - the perfect end to a ski day!

  • Make the most of the slopes and ambiance before returning to Chamonix to relax in the hot tub before enjoying another delicious meal prepared by our talented chef.

  • Games night tonight - Giant Jenga or Twister - we'll let you decide!

Day 7: Les Houches

 Morning:

  • Conclude your ski week with a morning in Les Houches.

  • Return to your favourite slopes and views you discovered on your first day.

Afternoon:

  • Enjoy a farewell lunch on the slopes and take some time to relax and reflect on your adventures.

  • Ski to the end of the day before returning your ski equipment and heading back to the chalet for a final dip in the hot tub.

  • Maybe even book into the new Chamonix Spa for the afternoon and really spoil yourself without the children - childcare can be arranged :)

 Evening:

  • Gather for a final group dinner, share stories, and toast to new friendships.

  • Silent Disco finale for adults and children to show off their moves - a real highlight of the week!

Day 8: Departure

Morning:

  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation.

  • Enjoy a morning skiing in Les Houches if you have a later flight.

  • Say your goodbyes and take your airport transfer back to Geneva airport, taking with you with cherished memories of your Chamonix Valley ski adventure with your child.

  1. Waterproof ski jacket

  2. Waterproof ski trousers

  3. Ski gloves or mittens

  4. Ski socks (comfortable feet are essential when skiing and so it is worth investing in a few good pairs of socks)

  5. Thermal base layers (it is advisable to layer your clothing when skiing so that you can remove layers if you become too hot and replace them when needed)

  6. Light fleeces/jumpers (to layer over a base layer and under your ski jacket) – thick jumpers can be bulky and restrict movement when worn under a ski jacket

  7. Warm hat (we recommend wearing a helmet when skiing, but this can be hired in resort)

  8. Goggles and good quality sunglasses (the sun is extremely powerful in the mountains and the reflection off the snow can be very strong on the eyes)

  9. Sunscreen/block for the face and neck

  10. Winter insurance – it is essential that your travel insurance covers you for winter sports as medical services are not cheap

  11. Swimwear and flip flops / waterproof shoes for the hot tub.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes with all our Fully Catered Ski Chalets

We will coordinate all your airport transfers on your behalf. These transfers are carried out by reputable airport transfer companies, and we offer flexibility in accommodating your arrival and departure times. Having this service arranged for you not only alleviates a significant source of stress but also results in substantial cost savings.

Will I be with other singles?

Yes, ColdFusion caters exclusively for people travelling alone and we can guarantee that you will be with other singles whichever week you choose. The people we accommodate are social people looking to enjoy a traditional chalet holiday with a ready-made group of friends to socialise with in daytime and the evenings.

Is this a dating holiday?

Absolutely not. Some people travel with us who are in relationships, but for whatever reason have left their partners at home. We also welcome couples, where they are social people and want to enjoy the company of like-minded people in an adult environment.

Will I have to share a bedroom?

We offer double en-suite bedrooms for sole occupancy and also twin bedrooms for two people to share.  We allocate room-share based on gender and age-range.

If I choose the shared accommodation and the chalet is not at full capacity, will I be responsible for the cost of the additional bed in my twin bedroom?

No, if you opt for a shared bedroom, Cold Fusion will pair you with another guest for sharing. In cases where the chalet isn't fully occupied, there won't be any single supplement fee.

I have never tried skiing / snowboarding - can I still book a holiday?

Yes, we welcome people of all abilities, including complete beginners. Our team understands how daunting it can be to put on a pair of skis/snowboard for the very first time and will be on hand to help you every step of the way. We can organise lessons (both group and private), equipment hire and lift pass for you to make your first day as stress-free as possible – after all you will have a lot to concentrate on! After your lessons, we can show you the best places to practice your new-found skills with people who are of the same level as you.

I'm a snowboarder - will I be the only one?

Most probably not.... We have seen a growth in the popularity of snowboarding over the past few years and tend to have a 50/50 split of skiers and snowboarders in the chalet. Our chalet hosts and guides both ski and snowboard and so you will always have somebody to snowboard with.

Do I have to book my own fligths?

Yes, we ask that you book your own flights to and from Geneva Airport in Switzerland for Val Thorens, Chamonix and Les Houches and Turin in Italy for Serre Chevalier.

Budget airlines such as Easy Jet offer cheap and frequent flights out of the UK throughout the winter season. We are very flexible on the time you choose to arrive and depart. We arrange your airport transfers around your flight times, giving you flexibility to shop around and find flight times which suit you. Simply send us your flight details and we guarantee there will be someone at the airport to meet you when you land and to wave goodbye when you leave.

How will I know who is meeting me at the airport?

CHAMONIX & LES HOUCHES

To ensure that the arrival of our guests is easy and stress free, ColdFusion have teamed up with professional airport transfer company ‘Mountain Drop Offs’ to collect all of their guests from the airport and take them to the chalets in Chamonix and Les Houches.

The night before departure you will receive a text message giving you details of your pick up time, driver’s name, and emergency telephone number.

Upon arrival at Geneva airport, your driver will meet you at the Mountain DropsOffs desk in the arrivals hall of Geneva airport.

The driver may be meeting other people at the airport but they aim to have a maximum waiting time of only 45 minutes. The transfer time from the airport to the ski resort is only 1 hour 15mins. When arriving at the chalet you will be met by a ColdFusion Rep which will settle you into the chalet.

On the departure day the pick up time from the chalet will be 3-4 hours before your departure flight time. The precise pick up time will be given to you by the resort rep on the night before departure.

SERRE CHEVALIER:

To ensure that the arrival of our guests is easy and stress free, ColdFusion have teamed up with professional airport transfer company ‘Snow Cab' to collect all of their guests from the airport and take them to the chalets in Serre Chevalier. Cold Fusion will be in touch with the excat pick up details in ther lead up to your holiday.

VAL THORENS

These transfers will be operated by Alpine Fleet from Geneva Airport in Switzerland. Cold Fusion will be in touch with the excat pick up details in ther lead up to your holiday.

Do I need to arrange my own insurance?

Yes. You will need to purchase personal travel/holiday insurance before you depart the UK and ensure that you will be covered for winter sports for the duration of your ski trip.

Which ski pass do I need for my holiday?

There are three ski passes available in Les Houches & Chamonix.

If you are a beginner and want to ski just the local area of Les Houches, you can purchse the chapest 'Les Houches Only Ski Pass'.

For anyone else intermediate level or above you will require the 'Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass' which covers all 5 mountains including the local ski area of Les Houches and the main 4 mountains in Chamonix, as well as the surround resorts of Courmayeur in Italy or the Evasion Ski Area including St Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines in France.

It also covers the extra mountain in Chamonix called the Aiguille Du Midi. This is a very famous mountain as it is the highest in Europe and it is where a famous off-piste skiing route starts from called the ‘Valle Blanche’. Many people come to Chamonix to see the views from the top of this lift and so we recommend if you get the chance to go up this lift to do so.

Therefore if you are coming to Chamonix for off-piste skiing, amazing views, or a good intermediate to advance skier it is well worth opting for the Mont Blanc Unlimted Ski pass.

On the other hand if you are a beginner and on a budget we recommend opting for the Les Houches ski pass.

SUMMARY

  • Total Beginners: Don’t pre-book a ski pass and buy it on a day to day basis for the area where you are having your lesson.

  • Intermediates to Advanced: Mont Blanc Unlimted ski pass.

For guests travelling to Serre Chevalier, we recommend purchasing the full Galaxy ski pass.

In Val Thorens, the 3 Valleys ski pass will give you full access to all areas.

How many days skiing can I do in my week holiday?

It is possible to do 6, 7 or 8 days skiing when on holiday in Chamonix and Les Houches

You are able to do this as, unlike many other companies, we are flexible on your arrival and departure times when staying in the resort. This means it is possible to ski in the afternoon on the arrival day and in the morning before your departure flight as well as the 6 days in between.

When staying in Val Thorens or Serre Chevalier the ski week is a 6 day week as the transfer times are more fixed.

Can I come with my friend or partner?

Yes, we welcome couples in all of our chalets and a small group of friends travelling together if the people travelling are looking for a social holiday.

No, single skiers and snowboarders are paired in shared rooms, eliminating the need for a single supplement fee. Finally, solo travelers can enjoy their holiday without extra costs!
